Last winter up in the pacific northwest some friends and i decided to venture out to pirates cove on a cold and rainy afternoon in good ol' Portland Oregon. Even though the ceiling leaked and the place reaked of hobo urine (as does almost any good skate spot in portland), the place was something to see. located in an abandoned gutted out old warehouse building stood something beautiful and untainted. the following is a short collection of photos from a session there.
When i came back to Portand this summer what i saw was almost incomprehendible. The once tall standing undercover DIY skateboarding sanctuary had been reduced a pile of rubble. The ceiling which once rested nearly 20 feet above head, now lay on its side sandwitched on top of the ground level of the once epic conrete structure. it was enough to bring a tear to any burnside local's eye. The reason for the demolition is unkown but all that remains now are shattered dreams and mangled transitions. I took another series of photos after the demolition had taken place as a "before and after" piece that i will publish later... so with that said R.I.P.
